Navratri Poems in English With Images
The temple priest has rung his bell.
A cloud of smoke from candles and lamps
Haloes the Goddess, glowing bright
This beat of drums both maddens and dulls.
The incense burns: so heady the musk,
Our senses flounder in the flood.
This endless chant of sacred words
Soon drugs our lips and stuns our minds.
The Goddess, always staring down:
Her painted pupils cut through smoke
And read the secret thoughts we think.
We somehow feel this within our hearts.
To Mother, we know, we bow and pray –
Her form not just this image of clay.

Nine nights for goddess Durga
Full of dance and songs
People worship her image
With flowers and prayers long.
May the Goddess bless us
With precious gifts to mankind
People praise her image
Full of beauty divine!
Navratri Poems in English For Kids
A time of celebration;
“MAA DURGA”s visitation;
Oh! “Maa Durga”, where are you?
Among the huge and richest decoration,
Or in the biggest statues,
Or with the grand music and dancing stars.
But I want to see you;
At a place, where no food, no cloth;
At a place, where kills a baby child;
At a place, where lives tormented woman;
At a place, where farmers making suicide;
At a place, where live old parents;
At a place, where chemicals flow in the holy rivers;
At a place where people quarrel for monuments;
Go there, “MAA” with the nine expressions;
Destroy the evils and bring the revolution;
I want to give a stunning Era to my next generation;
Then I will do “GARBA” with my constant devotion;
“JAY MATA DI”
Navratri Poems in English For Students
Navaratri’, the festival of nine lights,
The most auspicious time of the year,
When Hindus across the world
Worship the three forms of Goddess Shakti.
Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswati
The forms of Strength, Prosperity and learning
Are worshipped in nine forms
During this nine days of spiritual enlightenment.
It is the time to celebrate
With dance, music and colors,
And to remind all of us
That, women must be respected.
Culmination is of course with Dussehra,
When the good takes over the evil,
And we the common mortals
Remind ourselves to think and do only good.
Navratri English Kavita
Nine nights are the fine nights
Delightful nights and colourful nights
Pleasing nights and blessing nights.
Come ladies ! It’s our ladies festival for celebration
Bring up our home with idols and toys for recreation.
Decorate our home beautifully to receive our guests
To Sit and sing the glory of our great mother Goddess.
Oh! Durga Maa …you killed the demon with might
Spending nine good days to prepare for a fight.
All the days are great to the people on this earth
To remember and celebrate from birth to death.
Oh Trishakti! Parvathy, Lakhshmi and Saraswathy
Give us strength, wealth and knowledge plenty
To live peacefully on this earth lovely and free
With no sufferings by the blessings of you three
Navratri Poems in English
Let us we keep our hypocrisy aside,
Celebrate Navratri in its truest form.
By stopping the female foeticide,
And throwing acids to deform.
Let’s try to kill in the womb,
The lust, anger, ego and greed.
Let’s try to bury in the tomb,
Social evils of caste and creed.
Why to worship, when daily to tease?
Never allow, though let them cease.
Honor killings and dowry deaths,
Are demons alive, yet not just myths.
Let’s we keep our bigotry aside,
Celebrate Dussehra in its truest form.
By burning effigies of pride,
And let our thought patterns, reform.
Let’s avow to honor all the women,
Being nice to them, paying due respect.
Let’s try to correct, our blurred vision,
That’s true worship, that’s being perfect.
